Case Management
Patients suffering from life-altering events, such as strokes, cancer, spinal
cord injuries, debilitating diseases, and terminal illnesses, are considered
“catastrophic.” When such illnesses or injuries occur, prompt intervention
and effective management of care are vital for ensuring enhanced quality
of life for the patients and conserving their healthcare dollars.
Our case managers are registered nurses who have earned the
CCM (certified case manager) credential. This specialized training enables
them to arrange for excellent patient care and negotiate cost-effective
rates for services, therapies, and equipment.
As part of our Case Management team, MedCost offers specialty
case managers with expertise in the following areas:
- Solid organ transplants (heart, lung, liver, kidney, or
other solid organs)
- Oncology (chemotherapy and radiation treatments or stem cell and bone
marrow transplants)
- Rehabilitation (strokes, traumatic brain injuries, spinal cord injuries,
or other neurological deficits)
Because of their specific knowledge in these areas, MedCost’s
specialty case managers are better able to evaluate and recommend appropriate
care for members facing these medical situations. They offer a level
of expertise typically not found in other health management operations.
"The MedCost Case Management Program is outstanding. It has exceeded all my expectations on every level. Without a doubt, it is a substantial part of my being here today, and I have no words to describe my gratitude for that."
