Health and Wellness Many companies offer health and wellness programs to their employees as a solution to rising health care costs. At MedCost Benefit Services, we know that merely offering a health and wellness program isn’t enough. We work with our clients to foster a corporate culture of health and wellness that engages employees and motivates them to make positive health changes. Our comprehensive initiatives include a Health & Wellness Toolkit for employers, with step-by-step plans for implementing a corporate wellness program and going tobacco-free. Our Health &Wellness Toolkit for members is a guide for making healthy lifestyle, fitness, and nutrition choices. Through this variety of products and services, we can address all aspects of health and wellness to help our clients achieve reduced health care expenditures, fewer absences, and higher productivity. At the heart of our integrated health and wellness program is the Succeed™ health risk assessment (HRA), available through MedCost’s partnership with HealthMedia, a leader in behavioral science and web-based health programs. Through unique technology, called Expert Tailored Counseling, MedCost members receive highly individualized, easy-to-implement health behavior improvement plans. In addition, triggers within the HRA refer members to HealthMedia’s web-based lifestyle management and behavioral health programs to address such issues as smoking cessation, stress reduction, nutrition, weight control, binge eating, insomnia, and depression. Health risk assessment results can also refer members to MedCost’s phone-based Personal Care Management program for further evaluation and possible one-on-one nurse health coaching. MedCost also offers members of participating employers the opportunity to maintain their own Personal Health Record (PHR) through our Web site. From our Members portal, they will have access to a secure location in which to store their complete personal health information. Members can update their records whenever they wish, and if needed, emergency personnel can access the information easily.
