Lifestyle Management To promote healthier outcomes for all of our members, MedCost Benefit Services offers four personalized lifestyle programs to address common health concerns, such as smoking cessation, stress reduction, proper nutrition, and weight control. Members who participate in the Succeed™ health risk assessment (HRA) available through MedCost's partnership with HealthMedia, may be referred to one of the following web-based programs: Breathe™ targets smokers who feel ready to quit and identifies their primary motivations for giving up smoking, the factors favoring their success, and their personal barriers to quitting. Participants receive a customized action plan and follow-up newsletters to increase their confidence and motivation. Relax™ assesses a member’s sources of stress; physical, emotional, and behavioral symptoms of stress; and current healthy and unhealthy stress management solutions. Participants receive a customized action plan that includes important stress reduction techniques, such as muscle relaxation, time management, and physical activity, so they can modify their behaviors and lead a less stressful life. Nourish™ offers smart and creative strategies for making healthy eating decisions. Participants receive a customized action plan and follow-up newsletters to reinforce changes, deal with challenging situations, and help develop long-term healthy eating habits. Balance™ helps participants achieve and maintain a healthy body mass index (BMI) by focusing on the critical elements of weight loss and maintenance: nutritional habits; physical activity patterns; and the psychological, emotional, and behavioral patterns that influence them. Balance is not a pre-set nutrition and exercise plan, but instead teaches participants how to make their own smart decisions. Participants receive a customized action plan and follow-up newsletters to help manage their weight and monitor their progress.
